Savings with Yard Smart at DSGi |

DSGi, a major electronics distributor and retailer in the UK rolled out Yard Smart at its Newark campus in December 2007, their central hub servicing all of the UK. This major site handles over 1,200 gate transactions daily during their peak holiday season and acts as a central point of pickup and delivery for all of their suppliers. After implementing Yard Smart, DSGi has realized benefits well beyond their expectations, a reduction in the number of shunters used and additional tractors required over the peak period resulted in savings of over $90K. An additional $90K was saved from the cancellation of a large number of rental trailers forecasted over the same peak. After peak, the site continued and continues to benefit from using Yard Smart. The site runs at a noticeably more efficient level and the increased visibility has allowed DSGi to understand how they can further economize in the yard and improve service levels. As a result of this experience plans are now in motion to roll out the C3 Reservations System to optimize supplier bookings to the Newark campus. |
