The Co-operative Group Implements C3 Solutions’ Yard Management System

C3 Solutions Inc. is proud to announce that The Co-operative Group has implemented its Yard Smart yard management system at their Andover and Birtley sites. The Co-operative Group is the UK's 5th larges food retailer.

The project encompasses the implementation of an additional five sites. To support this project the Co-operative Group has built a team of in-house Yard Smart specialists capable of deploying the solution in an efficient and timely manner. The second site, Birtley, was successfully brought online with virtually no involvement from C3.

Tim Edwards, The Co-operative Food’s Project Manager for the Yard Smart implementation, said: “C3 advised on the planning stage but our project team and the site managed the implementation itself. This has given us great confidence in our ability to manage the roll-out of the system rapidly throughout our distribution network and generate the benefits we are targeting.”

The team easily implemented a robust integration between Yard Smart and Manhattan’s WMS using C3’s Web Service interfaces. Yard Smart’s Shipping Agent manages the outbound schedule by automating trailer requests, while ensuring the compliance of every departure and providing managers visibility on unfulfilled equipment requirements.

Yard Smart’s advanced features, including the Shipping Agent, allowed The Co-operative Group to achieve its key objectives in relation to this project:

  • Standardized yard processes.
  • Increased visibility of vehicles in the yard.
  • Reducing the time to allocate vehicles to loads, thereby minimizing late deliveries to stores.
  • Eliminate unnecessary vehicle movements.

C3 Solutions and Isotrak Announce Partnership to Integrate Yard Smart and ATMS

Isotrak Ltd. and C3 Solutions Inc. announce a strategic partnership to integrate their respective industry leading systems. This partnership will enable Isotrak and C3 customers to increase the benefits that they already experience with Yard Smart and ATMS (Active Transport Management System).

The respective systems exchange information that will allow customers to solve unique operational challenges. For example, estimated time of arrival (ETA) information can be sent from trucks that are destined to yards managed by C3’s Yard Smart. As these arrival times are updated, Yard Smart’s intelligent agent software will adjust the trailer selection based on real-time events to avoid unnecessary trailer moves, or direct time sensitive loads to their destinations without delay, thereby reducing operational costs and CO2 emissions.

Meritor Improves Goods Receiving by 50% with C3 Reservations

Lindesberb, Sweden -  C3 Solutions, a provider of software solutions dedicated to the area of yard management and dock scheduling, is pleased to announce that Meritor, a global leader in providing drivetrain mobility and braking solutions for original equipment (OE) manufacturers of trucks, trailers and specialty vehicles, has successfully implemented C3 Reservations at its Lindesberg manufacturing plant in Sweden.

The Lindesberg manufacturing plant was confronted with increased volumes and the need to improve its shipping and receiving processes.  The operation had out grown its current procedures which included emails, faxes and phone calls from carriers to setup appointments.  After an extensive survey of the market Meritor selected C3 Reservations.

“We had several key criteria during our evaluation, the product needed to be easy to use for both our staff and our carriers and it needed to be easy to implement since we had limited IT resources at our disposal”, explains Lars Heindahl   Transportation Manager at Meritor.  “With our implementation of C3 Reservations we have improved our goods receiving efficiency by 50%”.

Nokian Tyres Implements Dock Scheduling System from C3 Solutions

Nokia, Finland -  C3 Solutions, a provider of software solutions dedicated to the area of yard management and dock scheduling, is pleased to announce that Nokian Tyres, the largest tyre manufacturer in the Nordic countries has deployed C3 Reservations at its key European manufacturing plants and European distribution centers.

Nokian had several key challenges regarding appointment scheduling in their European operation.  Raw materials needed to arrive on time at manufacturing plants, finished products needed to be brought to regional distribution centers, and finally product needed to be delivered from distribution centers to local dealers.  Furthermore to meet Nokian’s requirements the solution had to be web-based, easy to deploy and functional in multiple languages.

Upon a survey of the market there was one clear choice – C3 Reservations.  It’s a long way from Nokia Finland to C3’s headquarters in Montreal Canada; however it wasn’t an obstacle for the deployment of C3 Reservations.  C3’s concise and straight forward approach allowed for a seamless implementation in facilities throughout Europe including Vsevolozhsk, Russia and Nokia, Finland.  C3 Reservations is an On-Demand system hence the solution is delivered to Nokian through “The Cloud”.

C3 Reservations optimizes the scheduling to each type of facility within the network.  Nokian is now able to automate the communication between schedulers and 3rd parties, expand the visibility of product movements throughout the enterprise, and in addition to all of this provide a means to consolidate paperwork for each shipment.   International shipments require volumes of necessary paperwork and visibility of this paper is crucial to expedite the movement of goods for Nokian Tyres.   As appointments are made Nokian simply attaches the relevant electronic paperwork to the appointments allowing personnel at the distribution centers to process trailers before they arrive.
