Yard Smart Implemented at Boots UK Central Beeston Site

Boots UK Limited, a member of the international pharmacy-led health and beauty group Alliance Boots, which operates more than 3,200 health and beauty retail outlets, is one of C3’s latest clients that is using Yard Smart.

Boots’ central distribution site in Beeston has successfully implemented C3 Solutions’ Yard Smart as an essential step of a comprehensive plan to refine all supply chain operations to achieve maximum efficiency and ultimately offer improved customer service.

The implementation of Yard Smart at the 200+ acre Boots site demanded extensive functionality to manage live-unload trailers, automate unload planning and track all movements and optimally assign tasks for 12 shunters in the yard. All of this was accomplished while maintaining a user-friendly interface.

In addition to the Yard Smart implementation at the primary site, Boots is also using C3’s WebGate. The new browser based application complements Yard Smart by extending visibility to smaller satellite sites. Inbound and outbound transactions at each site are tracked and trailers are displayed as an expected arrival at the destination site.
